Call for Book Chapters TITLE: Social Network Engineering for Secure Web Data and Services A book edited by: Luca Caviglione, National Research Council of Italy Mauro Coccoli, University of Genoa, Italy Alessio Merlo, University of Genoa, Italy, and Università e-campus, Novedrate, Como, Italy To be published by IGI Global Proposals Submission Deadline: November 30, 2011 Full Chapters Due: April 30, 2012 Introduction: Owing to their ubiquitous diffusion, Social Network (SN) applications attract a large amount of users, also having impacts on the society, the economy and the technological pool of the Internet itself. Besides, they account for new users’ behaviors, Web-based technologies, traffic patterns and security requirements. SNs are also used to develop new services and applications, providing a suitable playground to support millions of users remotely connected and interacting in a real-time fashion. Therefore, they must properly scale, thus requiring new architectural blueprints and design choices. This Book aims at capturing the state-of-the-art in the engineering of SNs infrastructures, the development of novel applications, as well as the impact of SN-based services over the Internet, both in terms of traffic and protocols requirements. Nevertheless, SNs often store, deliver and manage personal data, and are tightly coupled with identities of individuals, thus making both privacy and security aspects crucial. Objective of the Book: The main goal of the Book is to take into account issues and solutions to prevent security threats and introduce proper countermeasures to attacks at every level during the design and development of such applications, or while relying upon such frameworks. This Book will cover three main Parts, reflecting the state-of-the-art and most promising developments in the field of Social Networks, with emphasis on issues and solutions for privacy protection and security of end-users, Service Providers and data. Target Audience: The target audience of this Book is composed of professionals and researchers working in the field of SNs and Web security. Thus, the Book covers aspects related to Engineering, Security and Application from both the theoretical and practical points of view, without neglecting the vision from social sciences in the field of communication, education, and sociality. Also, the Book will include some tutorial chapters enabling to understand basics in this area. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following focus areas: - Sociological Aspects of SNs and their exploitation through engineering. - SN modeling, including users’ dynamics and behaviors. - Development tools, standard and technologies of SN applications. - Design and deployment of social-enabled frameworks. - Traffic analysis and identification of SN applications, with relation to network security. - SN applications: e-learning, on-line gaming, application development, and A/V conferencing. - Web-oriented interaction: protocols, performances and design. - Security aspects in SNs, including privacy, authentication, authorization and access control. - Security assessment of SNs. - Security Analysis and Testing of SN-related protocols (OAuth, OpenID, FOAF+SSL, ...) Manuscript Submission Guidelines: Researchers, practitioners and professionals are invited to submit no later than November 30, 2011, a 2-3 pages Chapter Proposal, clearly explaining the topic and objectives of their proposed chapter. Accepted Authors will be notified according to the schedule reported in the "Important Dates" Section below. Also, they will receive a detailed guideline to prepare the chapter. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project.
