8th IEEE, IET International Symposium on Communication Systems, Networks, and Digital Signal Processing 2012 July 18-20 Poznan University of Technology Poznan, Poland http://csndsp2012.pl/index.php?id=3 Special Session on Emerging Technologies for Secure and Energy-Efficient Optical Communication Networks Due to the remarkable growth of Internet traffic, there have been intensive research and development efforts on scalable and high-capacity fiber-optic communications and networks. Advanced optical transmission and networking technologies have been proposed to improve the security, energy-efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and scalability for optical communication networks. The objective of this special session is to present a collection of high-quality research papers that cover recent advances in system, architecture, protocol, modeling, simulation, as well as applications related to this area. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: Energy-efficient optical networks Transparent/Translucent optical networks Security in optical networks, optical virtual private networks (VPNs) Optical signal processing Digital signal processing and algorithms for optical transceivers System implications of optical and/or electronic signal processing All-optical wavelength conversion, all-optical regeneration Optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (O-OFDM) Optical arbitrary waveform generation (OAWG) Future optical access networks, OCDMA-PON, OFDM-PON, etc Optical label switching Optical cloud Invited Talks: Real-Time Optical OFDM for In-Building and Access Networks Prof. Jianming Tang Bangor University United Kingdom All-Optical Wavelength Conversion and Regeneration in SOAs Dr. Rod Webb Tyndall National Institute Ireland Space-Time Codes for Optical Fiber Communications: Theoretical Gain and Experimental Validation Prof. Yves Joauen Telecom Paris France Optical Arbitrary Waveform Generation and Measurement using Optical Frequency Combs Dr. Nicolas Fontaine Bell Labs, Alcatel-Lucent USA Submission: Papers should be written in English with a standard length of five (5) printed pages (10-point font) including figures.
