More information about the School can be found at the KTH website: http://www.kth.se/ees?l=en_UK Subject area: Machine-to-machine (M2M) communications Subject description The topic comprises the principles for modeling, analyzing and synthesizing links, networks and systems for M2M communications. Job duties The position involves teaching and research, through own individual efforts, in collaboration with others and via supervision of doctoral students and postdocs. The position also involves administration and coordination of activities. Eligibility requirements A person qualified to be employed as an associate professor is a person who has received a Doctor of Philosophy degree or has the corresponding academic competence or has some other professional skill that is of significance with respect to the subject content of the position and the job tasks that will be included in the employment. Completed course in teaching and learning in higher education or in some other manner acquired corresponding knowledge, as well as demonstrated teaching skills, is also required. As special qualification requirements the person has to have the ability to seek, obtain funds for and conduct research projects and the ability to lead education and research activities. Assessment criteria The applicant needs to have documented scientific, engineering and pedagogical skills within the subject area. Leadership qualities are also important. Being active in the subject area requires general knowledge of algorithms and protocols for reliable, efficient and timely transfer and processing of information. Relevant disciplinary background is therefore one or several of the following: communication theory, information theory, signal processing, communication networking, networked and embedded control, as well as communication aspects of cyber-physical systems. The position demands a broad knowledge of the general subject area and profound documented scientific contributions demonstrated in at least one of its sub-areas.
