The Disaster Information Technology Lab at Florida International University, Miami, Florida, seeks to hire highly qualified Computer Science PhD students to pursue computer science research in areas of high interest to the Department of Homeland Security, Science and Technology Division. Preference will be given to candidates interested in cyber security, and a successful candidate can start as early as Spring 2012. Our Disaster IT Lab collaborates with partners like the Purdue University/DHS (Department of Homeland Security) Science and Technology Center of Excellence partner Visual Analytics for Command, Control, and Interoperability Environments (VACCINE) and Miami-Dade County Emergency Management to provide researcher with real world challenges relevant to DHS science and technology mission and represent problems of meaningful societal concern. Scholarship awardees will benefit from job placement opportunities from our partner network and particularly be assisted on employment at a DHS-approved scientific or engineering venue.
