IEEE ICC2012 Workshop on
Re-think ICT infrastructure designs and operations(RIDO)
~ Disaster Recovery Lessons Learned from Great East Japan Earthquake ~
~ and Recovery Technology Discussion for Great Disaster ~

* Objectives
On March 11th, 2011, Great East Japan Earthquake occurred with the epicenter
approximately 70 kilometers (43 mi) east of the Oshika Penisula of Tohoku. The
earthquake and tsunami caused extensive and severe structural damage in Japan,
including heavy damage to roads and railways as well as fires in many areas,
and a dam collapse. Furthermore, many electrical generators including nuclear
reactors were taken down.
Of course, the damage of ICT including communication networks and computing
infrastructures was un-experienced and beyond their thoughts. Although many
rapid recovery plans have been executed, however, Japan has faced and has been
expected to re-design and re-build more dependable and robust ICT
infrastructures and their management and operations.
This workshop aims to share with international audiences on the opinion of
emergency ICT infrastructure operation in large disaster, like Great East Japan
Earthquake. We actually plan to invite some speakers who will address their
experiences and future issue in Greate East Japan Earthquake. Furthermore, we
would like to discuss and "Re-think" the future ICT infrastructure designs and
operations according to the accepted technical papers.
This workshop welcomes submissions about the related technology and topics.
Subjects of interests include but not limit to

- Dependable ICT system and management
- New Network Architecture and Model for Dependability
- Networking issue for Disaster Recovery
- Self-Organized Networking for Disaster Recovery
- Urgent Operations and Management in Large Data Centers and Clouds
- Configuration and Fault Management for Big Disasters/Failures
- Dependable Ad-hoc Networking
- Ubiquitous Service Management in Disasters
- On demand Reconfiguration of Networks and Services
- Disaster Risk Assessment and Management
- Business Service Continuity Management
- Customer Care and Self Operations in Emergence States
