Applications are sought for a research associate and two PhD positions in networking and computer systems at the Department of Computer Science in the University of Otago, New Zealand's top-ranked university for research quality.
POSITION DESCRIPTION Research Associate Position: This position is available immediately to study advanced routing protocols and link scheduling policies for industrial wireless networks based on the recent wireless networking standards. The position is for one year, but may be extended based on performance and availability of funds. PhD positions: The PhD candidates are expected to carry out research in the following areas: wireless sensor networks, body sensor networks, green computing, real-time scheduling in multi-core platforms. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Research associate position: (1) PhD degree in computer science or a closely related area is desired. However, third-year PhD students are also eligible to apply for this position as exchange research students. (2) Strong research records in wireless networking, especially in the design and optimization of routing protocol and link scheduling policy. (3) Solid background in mathematical modeling and analysis. (4) Good communication skills in English (both oral and written). (5) Research experience on simulation/experiments is a plus. PhD positions: (1) Have completed the MS/Honours degree in EE, CS, or a relevant area. To be considered for a PhD scholarship, applicants must have an 'A' average or better in their MS/Honours study. (2) Strong analytical/experimental skills. (3) Solid background in wireless communications and networking. (4) Good communication skills in English (both oral and written) (5) Previous research experience on wireless networking is a plus. (6) Previous research experience on simulation/experiments is a plus.
