2012 International Workshop on Sustainable HPC Cloud (SHPCC2012) in Association with 14th International Conference on High Performance Computing and Communication
June 25-27, 2012 , Liverpool, UK Submission Deadline: March 1, 2012 ABOUT HPCC'2012 The HPCC-2012 conference is the 14th highly successful International Conference on High Performance and Communications (HPCC) started in the Netherlands, 1999. HPCC-2012 will be held in Liverpool, United Kingdom from June 25-27, 2012. It will provide a forum for scientists and engineers in academia, industry, and government to discuss the new challenges and to present their research results and experience in all aspects of high performance computing and communications. HPCC-2012 is sponsored by IEEE, IEEE Computer Society, and IEEE Technical Committee on Scalable Computing (TCSC). ABOUT SHPCC'12 Workshop SHPCC 2012 will be the second Workshop of Sustainable High Performance Cloud Computing after the first workshop in Banff, Canada, September 2011. For 2012, we will have a new focus on auction-based cloud computing. Auction-based clouds offer the users the most cost effective computing option. It also gives providers the most efficient resource utilization option. The only obstacle to make this win-win combination to become reality is our programming methods. Existing methods are incapable of handling volatile environments. As the computing clouds gain momentum for many applications, this unique resource provides an unparalleled opportunity for HPC research and development. The sustainable computing challenge can be stated as the “1 + 1” challenge – can we gain performance and reliability at the same time when adding resources? Solutions to this challenge can have profound practical and theoretical impacts in computing industry. Elastic cloud HPC resources are now available for hands-on experiences. We would like to invite you to contribute to the new challenges by participating in the SHPCC2012 Workshop. We invite original research articles, reports on practice and experiences, but not limited to the following areas: * Investigative reports on delivered performance for computation intensive applications with or without failure and recovery. * Investigative results on delivered cloud performances for computation intensive applications * Experiences in non-main stream HPC paradigms. * Experiences in virtualized GPU for HPC applications. * Experiences in virtualized networks for HPC applications. * Experiences in using auction-based cloud resources. * Performance and failure modeling methods * Innovative failure prevention and recovery methods * HPC security considerations using cloud resources * Communication infrastructure virtualization experiences * Private cloud implementation experiences * Innovative cloud auction pricing models Important Dates * Paper submission deadline: 1 March, 2012, 5pm EST. * Notification of acceptance: 08 April, 2012 5pm EST * Final Manuscript Due: 08 May, 2012 * Registration Due: 08 May, 2012 * Conference Date: 25-27 June, 2012 Paper Submission Each submission should be at least six (6) but not exceed eight (8) pages including title, authors, tables, figures and references. The font size should be no smaller than 11 point. You can confirm the IEEE Computer Society Proceedings Author Guidelines at the following web page: http://www.computer.org/portal/web/cscps/formatting Once accepted, the paper will be included into the IEEE conference proceedings published by IEEE Computer Society Press (indexed by EI).
