Hi, all, Regarding a few points that were raised, some context below might be useful. Joe (TCCC Chair) - posting discussion threads on the mailing list Most mail browsers, as well as the archive interface, provide a way to view list email by thread, which already provides an easy way to organize posts by topic, and to discard messages by such groups if not of interest. FWIW, the goal of the list *is* such discussions, not (e.g.) CFP posts; the current model ls "opt out" (easy to delete threads of less interest), which encourages people to jump in later in the thread (which has happened, e.g., on conference management discussions). An opt-in model (where info is pushed elsewhere) could make monitoring such discussions more difficult, and harder to track (requiring a separate RSS feed, e.g., and a wiki which we currently lack). - the officers have previously discussed the issue of standards involvement by TCs At this time, we feel it is appropriate to monitor those activities, but have not seen sufficient interest on the mailing list in these activities to warrant an official TC position on particular standards group events. If there are any members who are tracking standards who would be interested in such a process, please contact our standards board rep (Venkatesha Prasad) so we can gauge active interest. ----- - _______________________________________________ IEEE Communications Society Tech.
