Hi, all, The following is being forwarded on behalf of Heinrich Stuettgen.
Joe (TCCC Chair) ---- Dear TC chairs and vice chairs, As you probably know we have conducted during the last year a portfolio analysis of ComSoc's financially sponsored conferences. One of the findings was that currently ComSoc is lacking a major conference focusing on security technologies, beyond the security symposia in our flagship conferences GLOBECOM and ICC. On the other hand Security, Privacy and Trust are topics of rapidly growing importance and interest in the community, especially when we think about the ever growing importance of trends like pervasive computing, cloud computing, e-commerce, e-government and others. They are of interest to many ComSoc TCs, TC CIS, TC CC and many others In the meantime we have received several proposals focusing on specific sub-areas of security topics. In order to do it right from the beginning we would like to invite interested ComSoc researchers to help shaping ComSoc's new core security conference. Therefore we ask all TCs to distribute this "call for proposal" to their members. Call for Proposal ----------------- Please submit a proposal covering the following items: Technically: --------------- - security and privacy technologies covered - Technical committee chair persons as well as TPC members, as well as how will you recruit further TPC members - Review process - Conference Technical program content - academic and industry program components Organization and Venue: --------------------- - conference venue - conference dates and preparation schedule - local organizers - budget plan - possible patrons (typically major industry in the region) - travel logistics and hotel costs - (technically) co-sponoring organization (if any) - etc Whereas we welcome proposals covering both aspects (Technical Program as well as Venue and Organization), this is not a hard requirement. It is entirely possible to propose only one of both aspects and let the selection committee recommend collaboration between a technical and organizing group. All proposals should be sent to ComSoc's conference leadership team (VP of conferences and 3 Conference Directors) [email protected] (which will be created shortly) Deadline for Proposals is March 31, 2012. The Target date for the first conference to happen is 2. half of 2013. The conference leadership team will study the various proposals in April, possibly ask for clarification and revision and then decide before ICC 2012 in Ottawa. I want to hold a first meeting with the successful proposing team at ICC in Ottawa. Please note, this is planned to be an annual conference, so don't be frustrated if your proposal does not make it in the first attempt, there will be many more chances in the coming years. For any proposals or other questions you may have, please mail to [email protected] .
