Dear all, ******** Apologies if you receive multiple copies of this e-mail *************
We are organizing a Special Session devoted to GREEN COMMUNICATIONS in the next IEEE International Workshop on Computer-Aided Modeling Analysis of Communication Links and Networks (CAMAD), which provides a forum for discussion for recent developments on analytical and simulation tools and techniques for the performance evaluation of communications systems. This workshop has been traditionally co-located with the ComSoc Flagship conferences IEEE GLOBECOM and IEEE ICC. From 2009, CAMAD is an IEEE Communications Society portfolio event, and this time, it will be held in BARCELONA, next 17-19 September 2012. We would like to encourage you to submit your high-quality papers! Please, find more details and instructions below. Feel free to distribute this information to anyone you believe may be interested in submitting a contribution to this Special Session. ******** Apologies if you receive multiple copies of this e-mail ************* Call for Papers: IEEE CAMAD 2012 Special Session 17-19 September 2012, Barcelona, SPAIN GOTO-GREEN: Energy-Efficient Communication Protocols Sponsored by GREEN-T (Celtic Project) and CO2GREEN (Spanish National Project) projects Current 4G vision envisages higher data rates and multi-standard radio interfaces to provide users with a continuous seamless connection. The large number of foreseen devices coupled with the surge in power requirements for future emerging handsets raises significant challenges in terms of (i) reducing energy consumption and (ii) reducing the amount of electromagnetic radiation. Therefore, one of the biggest challenges for future wireless systems is the need to limit the energy consumption of the battery-driven devices so as to prolong the operational times. Without new approaches for energy saving, there is a significant threat that 4G mobile users will be searching for power outlets rather than network access and becoming once again bound to a single location. Cooperative and cognitive techniques are two disruptive solutions, which have been used in the wireless mobile world mainly for improving the spectrum efficiency and enhancing the capacity of the wireless links. Recently, these two innovative techniques (cooperative and cognitive techniques) have been envisioned as methods to help reduce the energy consumption of wireless communications. This special session, sponsored by GREEN-T (Celtic Project) and CO2GREEN (Spanish National Project), and named GOTO-GREEN, is conceived as a forum for researchers and engineers, from both academia and industry, to present novel (not published nor under consideration by other conferences or journals) research results on the design and development of cooperative and cognitive techniques aimed at reducing the energy consumption of wireless communications. High-quality contributions are solicited. The corresponding call for contributions focuses on topics related to industrial applications and academic research based on intelligent systems including, but not limited to, the following portfolio of techniques: o Cooperative Medium Access Control protocols. o Cooperative Retransmission Schemes. o Clustering techniques for wireless communications. o Network Coding protocols for energy-efficient communications. o Energy efficient neighbour discovery algorithms. o Adaptive vertical-handover based on energy-efficient cost functions. o Flexible radio transceivers for energy-efficient wireless communications. o Testbed implementations to conduct research on energy-efficient communications GOTO-GREEN 2012 Chairs: 1.
