Internship on "Micro Network Architecture"
at Toyota InfoTechnology Center, Mountain View, USA.

* Context
Toyota ITC conducts advanced research and technology development
of intelligent information processing technologies. There are many on-going
research projects [JBK1] for micro networks that are applied to home, medical,
and sensors. Small sensors, actuators, and low power wireless/wired devices
will play prominent roles in these networks.
We are highly interested in exploring the architecture of these micro networks
and identifying possible technical challenges such as addressing, routing,
transport, QoS, etc.

* Objectives
The objective of the internship is to provide interns with opportunities to
utilize and apply their state-of-the-art knowledge to develop and enhance
intelligent information processing technologies. Interns will use simulations
to identify micro network architecture issues and propose designs. If time
permits, implementations on embedded systems will also be considered as well as
an academic publication based on the output of the internship.

* Qualifications
We are looking for graduate students in Computer Science or Electrical
Engineering to complete a three to five month internship, full-time. Candidates
are expected to have strong competences in networking (Medium Access Control,
IPv6), UNIX systems, C/C++ programming and simulation tools. Knowledge in
embedded
systems would be a plus. In addition to the above qualifications, candidates
should have strong practical and problem-solving skills, the ability to
independently produce high quality work, and excellent oral and written
communication skills.

* Compensation and Working Environment
Toyota ITC will pay its interns competitive wages and provide a comfortable
research environment with abundant opportunities to gain IT-focused R&D
experience.

* Administrative details:
- Summer internship for a duration of 3 to 5 months in Toyota ITC,
Mountain View, CA, USA (http://www.toyota-itc.com/en/).
- Applicants *must* already have the ability/authorization to work in the USA
(Toyota ITC will not provide VISA support).
- Contact intern-mna at us.toyota-itc.com for further information.
- To apply for an intern position, send a resume, a cover letter explaining
your interest in the job and a letter of recommendation to: intern-mna at
