Research Fellow in Wireless Communications University of Sheffield (http://www.sheffield.ac.uk/)
Faculty of Engineering, Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering (http://www.sheffield.ac.uk/eee) Salary: GBP(£) 38,754 per annum plus other benefits. Closing date: 21 May 2012. Please apply as soon as possible. The post is based within the Communications research group (http://www.sheffield.ac.uk/eee/research/cr) and was awarded as part of the new EU Framework 7 Marie Curie. The project is centred on indoor radio network planning and optimisation and femtocell. Group members have already undertaken work on interference mitigation and self-organising for femtocell and world-leading research in wireless communication in buildings. The main aims of the post are concerned with research into femto/small cells in the built environment. The research topics include radio propagation in indoor environments, indoor to outdoor and outdoor scenarios, interference modelling and interference mitigation in macrocell/femtocell networks, and self-organisation of femtocells. The built environments concerned include various residential, business and campus scenarios. The successful applicant should have a PhD degree (or equivalent) in the area of Wireless Communications and/or computing (in particular, high performance computing). They should also have a strong background and a very good understanding in one or more of the following areas:- - Indoor wireless communications - LTE/LTE-A simulation, planning and optimisation - Self-organising networks (SON) - High performance computing (eg parallel and distributed computing) - Radio network planning tools development Fixed-term for a period of 12 months with a proposed start date of 1 June For application, send your CV to Professor Jie Zhang, [email protected] or follow the link http://www.jobs.ac.uk/job/AEI019/marie-curie-experienced-researcher/ Best regards, Jie ------------------- Jie Zhang (PhD) Professor of Wireless Communications & Networks ------------------ _______________________________________________ IEEE Communications Society Tech.
