[Apologies for multiple copies] Dear Colleagues,
This is an early call so that interested researchers could prepare relevant papers. Submission link is supposed to open soon. Regards, Sakib ---------------------------------------------------------- * International Workshop on Converged Networks, Technologies and Applications (CNTA 2013)* In conjunction with ICNC 2013, San Diego, USA, January 28-31, 2013 URL: http://staff.iium.edu.my/sakib/cnta13/ Alternative URL: http://cs.ua.edu/~mhoque/cnta13/ *Overview* By observing the success of the Internet and packet-switched networks, recent initiatives such as NGN (Next Generation Networks) and IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) have been undertaken to provide a seamless architecture for various access technologies. Besides other innovative approaches, by integrating different technologies, for example SDP (Service Delivery Platform) and IMS, easy service delivery, execution and management are now possible. Other issues, such as point-to-point and broadcasting communications, data and multimedia oriented services, mobile and cellular systems, fast fiber and mobility, remain a challenging task and, to say the least, the end-to-end picture is still unclear. On the other hand, there are efforts such as 6LoWPAN, which tries to connect resource constrained sensor networks to the Internet to provide a ubiquitous environment, supporting the concept of the Internet of Things (IoT) in some way. This leads to a highly distributed network of devices communicating with human beings as well as with other devices. With the increase of heterogeneity, it becomes very difficult to ensure proper interactions among devices in a unified manner. To summarize these we can say, even though the recent advances in network convergence offer new realities, there are several research challenges and issues that need to be addressed. For example, the heterogeneity of the networks imposes difficulties and challenges in ensuring network security, QoS provisioning, route optimization and so on. The applications relying on the underlying mechanisms could perform well or satisfactorily when the underlying mechanisms could meet the expected standard levels of their operations. *Topics of Interest* Any work related to the recent advances in the challenges faced by next-generation and converged networks and their potential applications, is welcome. The topics of interest are (but not limited to the following): • Next generation networks • IMS and related technologies • Integration of IMS and SDP • IPTV architectures and standards • Security issues in future networks • IPTV/IMS management. • QoS and QoE provisioning • 3P and 4P service provisioning • Accounting and billing • Regulatory issues • Streaming services over wired/wireless access networks • 6LoWPAN architectures and standards • Mobility issues in 6LoWPAN • Route optimization • Wireless Networking in Converged Networks • Role of Sensors in Converged Networks *Submission Guidelines and Publication* Original papers from the above-mentioned or other related areas will be considered. Papers should be submitted electronically in PDF via the submission link (TO OPEN SOON !!). Each submitted paper should follow conference proceedings paper template (guideline available here: http://www.conf-icnc.org/2013/author.htm). Submitted papers should not have appeared in or be under consideration for another workshop, conference or a journal, nor may those be under review or submitted to another forum during the review process. Each submission will be reviewed by the members of the TPC and external reviewers. Each accepted paper (invited or regular submission) is required to be covered by a paid registration before the paper registration deadline; otherwise, the paper will be removed from the program and the proceedings. If an accepted paper is not presented onsite, it will NOT be included in the IEEE digital library. Selected extended and revised papers from the workshop will be invited for publication in the Special Issue on Converged Networks, Technologies and Applications of IJCSE Journal.
