Call for Posters and SRC
The 18th Annual International Conference on Mobile
Computing and Networking (ACM MobiCom 2012)
August 22-26, 2012, Istanbul, Turkey
http://www.sigmobile.org/mobicom/2012/
Sponsored by ACM SIGMOBILE
ACM MobiCom 2012 solicits submissions for the Poster Session to be held during
the conference. Proposals for poster presentations featuring early research
work and preliminary results are strongly encouraged and solicited. The MobiCom
2012 Poster Session will provide an excellent opportunity for initial feedback
on early research results. Posters are solicited in all areas of mobile
computing and mobile and wireless networking at the link layer and above.
Particular areas of interest include, but are not limited to, the following
aspects in wireles and mobile networking:
==> Architectures, algorithms and protocols for cognitive wireless networks
and their integration in the Internet
==> Architectures, protocols, and algorithms to cope with mobility, limited
bandwidth, limited power and/or intermittent connectivity
==> Coexistence of heterogeneous wireless networks
==> Design, implementation, and evaluation of mobile systems and applications
==> Experimental test-beds for mobile/wireless networks
==> Fundamental understanding of mobile computing and wireless networking
==> Green and energy-aware wireless networking
==> Integration and interworking of wired and wireless networks
==> Internet of things and cyber physical systems
==> Modeling, simulation, emulation and measurement of mobile systems
==> Next generation (beyond 802.11) wireless technologies and related systems
and protocols
==> Operating system and middleware support for mobile computing and networking
==> Performance evaluation of mobile and wireless networks, protocols, and
systems
==> Protocols exploiting novel technologies such as UWB, MIMO, directional
antennas, and software radios
==> Security, privacy, and trustworthiness of mobile and wireless systems
==> Techniques for dynamic spectrum use
==> Wireless access technologies (e.g. mesh systems, personal area networks)
==> Wireless and mobile techniques for delay-tolerant, mobile ad hoc, and
wireless sensor networks
ACM Student Research Competition (SRC)
ACM MobiCom 2012 will host an ACM Student Research Competition (SRC). Students
submitting to the MobiCom 2012 Poster Session can opt to have their posters
considered also by the SRC committee. Selected competitors will receive up to
$500 USD for their conference travel, depending on need, and will earn a chance
to compete in the SRC Grand Finals.
The winners will be recognized at the Annual ACM Awards Banquet. Competitors
should be prepared to attend the poster session and, if selected for further
competition, give a short talk about their research projects. Winners of the
MobiCom 2012 SRC will be announced at the conference.
The Student Research Competition is open to graduate and undergraduate students
whose submissions are accepted by the SRC committee. To be considered, complete
a submission to the Poster Session and indicate that you would like to
participate in the SRC by adding [SRC] in the subject line. Current ACM student
membership and student status as of the submission deadline are required for
the lead student.
Submission Instructions
The posters should be submitted to the Poster Chair at:
[email protected]. The submission should be formatted as a paper or
extended abstract describing the research to be presented in your poster and
should submitted as a PDF file of at most THREE pages, including all figures
and references (formatted into the US letter size of 8.5 x 11 inches with fonts
no smaller than 10 point size). The extended abstract must include the names of
the authors, affiliations and email addresses.
The submission should include the following:
In the submission you would need to indicate you want the submission to be
considered for the Student Research Competition by adding "[SRC]" in the
subject line.
If you would like your submission to be considered for the SRC, you would need
to indicate if any of the student authors is an undergraduate student. Note
that if any of the authors is a graduate student, then the submission will be
considered under the graduate category.
If you would like your poster to be considered for SRC, please cc-copy your
email submitting your poster also to [email protected] and to [email protected]
All poster submissions will be reviewed by a committee. If your submission is
selected for the poster session, you will receive information regarding the
size of the poster board, etc., so that you can prepare a poster for the poster
session. If your submission is selected for the Student Research Competition
(SRC), then during the poster session, the committee will also evaluate your
poster with the additional criteria of oral and visual clarity. Subsequently,
the SRC committee will select up to three finalists from the graduate and the
undergraduate categories. The finalists will be announced soon after the poster
session completes. All finalists will be invited to deliver a formal
presentation of their submitted work at the conference. Based on these
presentations, the SRC committee will rank the finalists.
Please note that if your poster is selected, you will need to attend the
conference, and if you are chosen as a SRC finalist, you will also be required
to make a presentation at the conference. Current ACM student membership and
student status as of the submission deadline are required for the lead student
for SRC submissions.
Important Dates
Submission deadline: June 10, 2012
Notification: July 1, 2012
