Call for Tutorial Proposals - ACM MSWiM 2012
============================================

The ACM International Conference on Modeling, Analysis and Simulation of
Wireless and Mobile Systems (MSWiM) is a key yearly event investigating the
specifics of wireless and mobile systems and the challenges involved in
analyzing and simulating them. Such analysis and simulation is key to the
reliability of data obtained on the performance of prospective enhancements,
novel designs and technologies for such systems. It is therefore key to the
industry understanding the relative benefits of various ways forward for such
systems, as well as to academia in identifying the most promising areas for
future work.

The modeling and ensuing analysis and simulation of such systems presents a
number of challenges, which can very quickly, if not handled correctly, lead to
excessive computational complexity or intractability of analytical formulas. It
is therefore highly important for the communications engineer at the leading
edge of development to understand the techniques, approximations and general
plethora of tools that can be utilized to facilitate the simulation and
analysis of such systems, as well as the underlying modeling criteria and
paradigms that can be used to realistically portray them. Appropriately
positioned tutorials are a key means of realizing this essential knowledge.

Given the above observations, we invite the submission of proposals for
tutorials to be given at the 15th ACM International Conference on Modeling,
Analysis and Simulation of Wireless and Mobile Systems (MSWiM 2012,
http://mswimconf.com/2012), to be held in Paphos, Cyprus, on October 21, 2012.
The Tutorial Co-Chairs will be your interface with the MSWiM 2012 Technical
Program Committee. Tutorial proposals should be submitted by email to both
Tutorial Co-Chairs, no later than June 15, 2012. Appropriate topics for
tutorial proposals that include, but not limited to the following:

* Modeling criteria and paradigms for wireless and mobile systems (e.g.,
performance metrics, conceptual techniques, etc.),
* Analytical tools for wireless and mobile systems (e.g., optimization theory,
numerical analysis techniques and tools, practical bounds of analytical
techniques, analytical packages, etc.),
* Simulation tools and their applicability/reliability (e.g., OPNET, Omnet++,
ns3, etc.),

Tutorial Co-Chairs:
* Oliver Holland, King’s College London, UK, [email protected]
* Yi Qian, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, USA, [email protected]

Each tutorial proposal must include the following content:
* Title of the tutorial,
* Name, title, affiliation, address, and a short CV (up to 200 words) of the
instructor(s),
* A short summary (up to 1 page, 11pt font) of the tutorial proposal,
emphasizing its timeliness,
* Outlines of topics to be covered,
* Preferred length of tutorial (half-day/full-day, though half-day tutorial is
preferred),
* If relevant, a description of past tutorials that the instructor(s) has/have
given, including the number of attendees and other indicators of the success of
these tutorials.

Important dates:
Tutorial Proposal Submission: extended to June 30, 2012.
Acceptance Notification: July 15, 2012.
Tutorial Slides Due: September 30, 2012.
Tutorial Date: October 21, 2012.
