Bonjour,
Please find below a subject for a PhD in LIA (university of Avignon), Alcatel Lucent and INRIA, France, in wireless communication Best regards Rachid Elazouzi ********************************************************************************************************* Titre : Exploring Gibbs sampling techniques for mobility in Macro/Small cells Subject : The need for bandwidth and the incitations to reduce power consumption leads to the reduction of cells' size in cellular networks. This allows reducing the distance between mobile and base station thus increasing the capacity. This reduction implies problems for cells organization and network deployment, especially due to the cells interference. Moreover, the evolution of next generation radio access networks such as LTE, LTE-advanced, is characterized by an increasingly distributed architecture (also denoted as flat architecture). This allows reducing the network complexity, the delays, and the signalling load. In a flat architecture network, many Radio Resource Management (RRM) functions are located within the base stations. Examples are mobility management, packet scheduling and different resource allocation functionalities (e.g. transmission powers etc.). A similar trend is expected in Self-Organizing Network (SON) entities, such as mobility optimization, interference management etc. It is recalled that in 2G and 3G networks, a more centralized operation of resource management is used. For example, in UMTS 3G networks, mobility management is performed in the Radio Network Controller (RNC) to which a large number on Node Bs are connected. The objective of this thesis is to develop the algorithms and solutions required to allow Small Cells Network (SCN) deployment. This thesiswill explore the Gibbs Sampling techniques in order to propose different architectures allowing the Gibbs sampler algorithms to obtain an optimal resource allocation in a distributed manner and in different scenarios. In this thesis, we will exploit the Gibbs sampling for several scenarios · References [Br99] P. Brémaud, Markov Chains: Gibbs Fields, Monte Carlo Simulation, and Queues. Springer Verlag, 1999.
