[[Apologies if you receive duplicate copies]] First International Workshop on Middleware for Pervasive Systems (MiPS), held in conjunction with ICDCN 2013<http://icdcn.tcs.tifr.res.in/sites/default/files/workshp/MiPS2013_CFP_posterVersion2.pdf>
In recent years, smart devices to connect and compute are increasingly becoming part of everyday life. We are either connected to laptops or mobile phones or PCs and soon with different sensors. Applications running on these pervasive systems must address key challenges of heterogeneity, scalability, etc., and can be solved at the Middleware level. This workshop aims to encourage and explore Middleware based approaches to handle challenges inherent in developing, deploying and managing complex pervasive systems. The main focus of the workshop is towards creating pervasive systems that can support multiple users with next-generation applications that will be available in smarter planet applications (smart buildings, smart utilities etc.). The emphasis will be on the core topics of Middleware architectures, services, and experience results. Topics of particular interest include, but are not limited to: • Architectures and platforms for MiPS • Middleware support for dependability, security, performance, and scale for Pervasive systems • Middleware support for adaptivity, resilience, and elasticity for Pervasive systems • Evaluation and experience reports on MiPS • Middleware Tools and Architectures to combine mobile devices and sensor motes • Lightweight autonomic middleware for embedded systems • Cyber Physical Systems • Knowledge discovery and decision making mechanism • Middleware support for making sensor systems available and accessible • Service creation, composition and maintenance • Distributed algorithms • Opportunistic communication and computing in Pervasive systems • Context-aware computing and services in Pervasive systems Organizing Committee: Pushpendra Singh, IIIT Delhi, India <http://www.iiitd.edu.in/~pushpendra/> Malolan Chetlur, IBM Research, India Technical Program Committee: Akshat Verma, IBM Research, India Animesh Pathak, INRIA-Rocquencourt, France Atul Singh, Robert Bosch, India Chiara Boldrini, IIT-CNR, Italy Hemant Kowshik, IBM Research, India Licia Capra, UCL, UK Koustouv Dasgupta, Xerox Research, India Ningfang Mi, NorthEastern University, USA Palanivel Kodeswaran, IBM Research, India Partha Dutta, IBM Research, India Praveen Jayachandran, IBM Research, India Roberto Speicys Cardoso, Ambientic, France Important Dates: Oct. 1, 2012: Paper Submission Nov. 10, 2012: Notification of acceptance Dec. 1, 2012: Camera ready due Jan. 3, 2013: Workshop Submission Guidelines: Papers should be a maximum of 6 pages, including title, abstract, figures and references, in ACM conference proceedings format, not published elsewhere and not currently under review by another conference or journal.
