Demo Session at WUWNet’12: The 7th ACM International Conference on Underwater Networks and Systems http://wuwnet.org/ November 5-6, 2012 Los Angeles, California, USA Note that we are now “The International Conference on Underwater Networks and Systems”, but we are still “WUWNet”. The oceans cover 71% of the Earth's surface and represent one of the least explored frontiers; yet, the oceans are integral to climate regulation, nutrient production, oil retrieval, and transportation. Also, water systems in general are of vital importance to life on Earth and commerce. For these reasons, there is significant interest in monitoring aquatic environments for scientific, environmental, commercial, safety, and military purposes. WUWNet is the premier venue for research and development bringing real-time, in-situ sensing and actuation to this aquatic world. The goal of this conference is to bring together researchers and practitioners in areas relevant to underwater networks and systems. Thus, many aspects of the networking protocol stack - from the physical layer to the application layer and the various system issues - will be represented at this conference. The objective is to serve as a forum for presenting state-of-the-art research and development, for exchanging ideas and experiences, and for facilitating interactions and collaborations. The conference will span two days, including presentations of keynote speeches, plenary talks, technical papers, and posters/demos. The scope of the WUWNet conference covers a broad range of research directions related to underwater systems including communications, networking, system integration, and vehicle coordination. DEMO SESSION: The demo session will provide an opportunities for researchers to showcase innovative research, applications, and hardware/software products. Demonstrations of technology, platforms, applications and products for all aspects of underwater networks, communications, and models are of strong interest. Submissions from both industry and universities are encouraged. DEMO SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS: Submit an extended abstract (no more than 2 pages) of your demo as a PDF e-mail attachment to: [email protected] and [email protected] using the following subject line: "WUWNet Demo Submission". Please, be as specific as possible in describing what you will demonstrate or exhibit. The extended abstract must include a short description of space and equipment requirements. Accepted abstracts will be posted and maintained on the workshop website. DEMO COMMITTEE: Luiz Filipe M. Vieira Roberto Petroccia AWARD: There will be one or two demo awards, depending on the number of demos.
