Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research position in Intelligent Transport Systems at Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia.
This is a fixed-term position (for up to 4 years) to support an Australian Research Council funded Future Fellowship project, entitled "Easing urban congestion through intelligent use of distributed information". The successful candidate will work with a team in the Intelligent Transport Systems Lab at Swinburne University of Technology to conduct research in exploring smart use of real-time information to ease urban congestion. Relevant to the project are the following research activities: * analysing traffic data, * modelling and evaluating performance of the communication protocol and infrastructure for information dissemination in intelligent transport systems (ITS), * developing algorithms for real-time route guidance systems, and * designing and optimizing traffic control mechanisms. The project will involve the development and analysis of new techniques to collect, process and disseminate information for ITS applications including route guidance and traffic control. Required qualifications: The positions require a strong background in at least one of the following areas: * data (wireless) networking * stochastic modeling and performance analysis * data mining * signal processing * transport systems or traffic management, and an in-depth understanding of at least two of the followings: * control theory, queuing theory, optimisation theory, traffic theory, and game theory.
