Wow, spring sailing was in full swing this weekend with plenty-o-sun and hi
temps into the 80s. Camping was comfortable except Friday night got a
little colder than I expected. And for the third year we hit our magic
number of 17 boats thanks to Mike Hardy registering from afar. If you did
not partake you missed another awesome Ides of March Regatta. Saturday
morning there was decent NW breeze and many boats went out before skippers
meeting to get in some sailing. Later, during race 1 there was an
unpredicted 90 degree shift from NW to SW. Then the wind got very light
and patchy. PRO Rodger Poe sent us to the beach to wait for more wind. It
never really materialized despite many people going out and trying to
sail. The F18s went out and did an iron man race across the lake and back
and that was really painful. Sunday by 10AM there was a stiff 15mph+
breeze from the South. We got in 3 fabulous races. The day was so
pleasant it was even enjoyable taking down the boats on the beach.

Thanks to all who served on RC and Chase boats. We had a great crew
working the event. Special thanks to Mark Biscotto for doing scoring once
again. The results are posted at the Austincat.net Events Page or

There is lots of sailing to do in April. So get out there and tear it up.
