Sailors,

It was brought to my attention at Ides of March that some folks in the
smaller classes prefer to be grouped in with portsmouth or other classes so
they can see how they race against others than just in their class. This
gives option for them to be scored with Portsmouth or as a class. However,
we would not likely do both other than to show finish times to avoid extra
work on scoring.

Combining classes at the start is often done to reduce number of starts.
However, this also requires using the same course. The speeds of the boats
can dictate how to group to give everyone reasonable time length courses.

We are also trying to reintroduce a B-mark. However spin boats will not do
well on a reach course unless very light wind. So that is also a
complication that needs consideration.

If you feel strongly about how you want classes grouped or started, you
should get a consensus among your class/fellow sailors and discuss this
with the PRO during registration.

Thanks,
Mike Rohrer
