If you follow me on Twitter [1], you might've know that today I attended Criativa 08 [2], a creativity event promoted by the company behind all Imprensa publicity stunts, marketing and design; BloomGraphics [3].
So, on twitter I tried to post some more relaxed and informal output that I got from the conference, while in the paper I've taken a lot of notes. But this post is about the event itself and not my notes, so here's this morning report, since I couldn't attend the afternoon panel and conference. *Vitor Duarte* - Creative Director of BloomGraphics; started the event, 45 minutes late, with not more that a few people in the audience (20 people tops). He talked about criativity, demoed some videos and said that innovation is creativity; which in my opinion is not completely true, since people can innovate without creativity, just by accident or fortunate luck. Nevertheless his talk took too long. New word discovered: "Prossumer" - Professional + Consumer *Mário Crespo* - Sic Pivot; didn't use any kind of computer, just read his speech with some side jokes and facts. He's the "old school", with a great oratory. Talked about publicity in TV news shows, when back in 1985 they first appeared, journalism ethics and self-regulation, the power of masses and publicity formulas that work only one time, with examples from guys that I never heard of - obviously! The main key learned was to promote the concept, not the product. *Guta Moura Guedes* - Founder and President of Experimenta Design [4]; gave us a wonderful and refreshing speech about the power of communication! The whole talk was without any "net", just by heart, no paper or powerpoint. She talked about her love to communicate not to do marketing, the way's that are available now to do it, with multidisciplinary teams, where the design is just a tool to communicate with the public. Heavy Mac power user, that in the demo part of showing of the Casa da Música logotype was created, got problems with "PC's" ;) Key phrase: "communication is the power, do it always and right". *Stefan Sagmeister* - Creative Designer; no, god sake, he wasn't on the conference, but Guta just talked about him and his work that I got curious and here it is: http://fora.tv/2007/09/27/Stefan_Sagmeister_Creative_Genius *Dvein* - Motion Graphics; oh boy! an incredible talk and demo from three Barcelona guys that made the Spiderman 3 open credits. It was pure and simple visual masturbation. Can't describe it better, you would have to see their work: www.dvein.com . The funny part here is that all of this remind me of "back in the days", in the Amiga/PC demo scene, where northern european countries ruled and Future Crew gave the world two of the best demo scenes ever; Unreal and Second Reality. Basically it was the conjunction between art, design, music and computers, just like Dvein work is. I talked with the guys a little bit afterwards, trying to understand if they were from those "days", but unfortunately they've only discovered the demo scene two years ago.
