We'll, I'm not the greatest video guru on earth, nether want to, by
editing the alt.prt.sc videos and now my own, I've managed to get
things out on error trial. Here's my cookbook.

Hardware: mac, video camera (we use two; one that records on min dvd
and another in DV), lots of disk space
Software: final cut express / adobe premiere, imovie, handbrake, mpeg
streamclip [1]

If we use the mini dvd camera, then handbrake is mandatory to rip VOB
movies into quicktime. The mini dv is quite easy, we just import it to
our edition software. iMovie is used to record my own commentary
videos. The edition is made, with a lot of middle renderers to see how
things are going, then we export as a big-non-rendered quicktime movie
(5 minutes video equals 1,1GB in disk space). Finally, streamclip does
all the work on rendering and exporting to web standard formats,
mostly quicktime h.264 and flash, transforming that 1,1Gb movie into
44Mb movie to upload.
