The reason why NOT to add it is that it duplicates info already in the header and reduces the amount of semi-useful info already in the subject. One ends up with things like Subject: [tcl-httpd] Re: [tcl-httpd] Re: [tcl-httpd] Prob which frankly I find uninformative... There are lots of ways of dealing with filtering of email msgs - modifying a user's subject line should be the course of last resort. Most mail apps that do filtering can filter on any mail header. Thus they can filter on the To and Cc lines, looking for tcl-httpd. If they can't do that, then most remaining systems can install a user mail filtering program like the Tcl app Sift-Mail, procmail, mailagent, etc. which can sort incoming email into separate boxes, add specialize headers, or even do personalized subject line modifications. -- -- Never apply a Star Trek solution to a Babylon 5 problem.
