Where is Crypt_Init?

Having once, with some effort, semi-successfully installed 3.0.0,
I'm trying to get 3.0.3 going as a secure server.   I've eventually
got the crypt, limit and setuid libraries somewhere where they get
read, but now I have a complaint that Crypt_Init is not found.   This
is presumably in a script somewhere - along perhaps with other scripts
that need to get sourced?
