Libraries are an essential component of the knowledge sharing network. As Pesident Bush noted in response to the Columbia tradgedy, we are inspired by the search for the unknown. That is what research is all about. Libraries (actually the really astute librarians) are the key facilitators of our effort to share the knowledge garnered from our search for new information with all of us. Anything that we can do to enhance the capabilities of our library system are worth fighting for in the upcoming "redefinition" of government services. Who can put a price on the value of information made available to citizens in a democratic society?
