--- Eva Young <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, quoted the following from a Pioneer Press article of last Wednesday:
"On the other hand, he [Pawlenty] said, Rybak is hiring lobbyists and worrying about public relations strategies to "try to avoid the problem." Eva then went on to say: "That's always been the reservation I've had about Rybak -- is that basically he is a PR flak ..." Well today's PP has another article on the matter and it says that, in fact, Rybak has NOT hired lobbyists to fight the Pawlenty plan but that he has spent time at the legislature making the same points that Eva applauds Scott Benson for making. http://www.twincities.com/mld/pioneerpress/news/local/5302044.htm The same article also portrays our own Mayor as accepting that he can't win a fight over LGAs. He's quoted as saying "... you can accept it and try to adjust. And that's what we're going to do in the best way that we can." Frankly, I think Rybak deserves some credit for at least attempting to make the case that Minneapolis and St. Paul are important to the state as a whole and deserve some help from the state as they struggle with problems unique to them but attributable to their position as the core of the larger metropolitan area.
