The UK Guardian is a reliably tough and independent paper. Thanks for quoting their
story on the attempted cover-up of this disturbing information.
"A report from the ONS due to be published last week showed pollution from
air transport rose 85% between 1990 and 2002, from 20.2 million tonnes to
37.3 million tonnes, and that from freight transport rose 59% from 15.8
million tonnes to 25.1 million tonnes."
What's fascinating is that the Brits are as self-absorbed as we are in bickering over
which party is most responsible and failing to see that their air pollution becomes
everyone's air pollution.

As for the KARE anchor making a cutesy story about "The Day after Tomorrow" and saying
"nothing about the need to raise public awareness that
rapid global warming is happening. He said nothing of the facts on ...
the volume of greenhouse gas emissions emitted by burning fossil fuels
the increasing greenhouse gas concentrations measured in the atmosphere
the increases in global temperatures and humidity..." etc.
Unlike the KARE anchor, Paul Douglas (WCCO weather) made an excellent point in his
weather column in the Strib. He referred to the movie also, saying that, while it is
over-the-top, he hoped it would draw attention to the reality of global warming. Then
he pointed out that 30,000 Europeans died last summer from the unbearable heat. I'm
ashamed to admit I'd forgotten that.
