Good question. Suzan Forsberg who works with Metro Commuter Services thought that the
passes would be interchangable between buses and light rail. She has bumped it up to
someone in Metro Transit to respond. The grand opening of the Hiawatha line is slated
for June 26th. Lots of festivities at most of the LRT stops that day and I believe
that buses as well as the LRT will be offering free rides on the 26th.

I'll be moving into the Standish-Ericsson neighborhood tomorrow. I
thought I'd pick up a transit pass since this area is rich in buses
and the 46th and Hiawatha light rail stop will only be 3 blocks away.

I was shocked when I noticed that Super Saver stored value card I
bought says it doesn't work with rail even though the prices are the
same. Who messed this up?

Could someone explain exactly how integrated transfers and passes
will be between these much less connected than I would have thought
systems?

Hey, welcome to the neighborhood!

My guess is that Met Transit is moving away from the Super Saver card in favor
of something called the "Go Card". The stations have "Go Card" readers, along
with cash and credit card ticket vending machines. Of course, you could walk
over to one of the parked busses, and request a transfer.

I haven't heard anything about how the "Go Card" will work. Looks like some
type of chip-embedded tech, since the readers are a proximity scanner (is that
the term? Not a barcode reader, not a magnetic strip reader. Is it RFID?). I
haven't seen any deluge of ads for the rail opening, either, which I expect any
time now.
