Remember a couple of months ago, when issues were raised regarding crime tied to
transit use? There was a mention of a decrease in crime at the Mall of America during
the bus strike. Well here is a crime at the Mall of America that can directly
attributed to non-transit users.

Fight over parking space at mall ends in stabbing
July 6, 2004 KNIFE0706
A dispute over a parking space at the Mall of America led to a stabbing Monday evening
that sent one man to the hospital with four or five puncture wounds in his arm and
torso, police said.

The victim, age 26, was not named, nor were the alleged perpetrators, a 59-year-old
man and a 53-year-old woman.

A statement from the Bloomington Police Department said the victim was attacked at
6:45 p.m. in the south surface parking area of the mall. He is expected to survive,
police said.

The Bloomington Police Department and Hennepin County Crime Lab are investigating.
