Maybe not that surprising, Dana. My first guess--and that's all it is--is that 
this reflects the spread of tech writing education. People who have been in the 
field a long time are more likely to have learned on the job or on their own, 
since there was little formal training in the "old days." They're also likely 
to make more money.

Of course, if they have these numbers broken down by experience and the 
differences still hold, then I'm just all wet.
