Title: Conditional Text - general comments

I hate to correct Carla in public, but this is a big one if you’re working with conditional text. (Sorry, Carla!)

It’s not always the best practice to use an “import from” file to reset the show/hide settings of conditional text in a book. All that does change the show/hide features for the conditions that are contained in the import from file. It does absolutely nothing to the conditions that are not in the import from file (say someone added new ones…), so you could wind up having text showing when it shouldn’t be. Always set conditional text in your books at the book level by selecting all files in the book and then choosing View > Show/Hide Conditional Text. That will get you the same results 100% of the time where the import from file may not.

The import from file is good for importing conditions that don’t already exist in your files.

Our process includes creating an "Import From" file that holds the master variable and conditional text show/hide settings for each book.  You should always show all conditions when working on a file to make sure you don't inadvertently mess up conditional text.  All you need to do to reset the conditions is to import them from the Import >From file.
