I have no idea. A friend in Alaska coined the term to describe everything
unpleasant...like those three-year-old dust bunnies under the bookshelves,
or soap rings in the tub, or...well you get the point.

"Clean the gutersmelt from your shoes before coming inside or you'll be
washing dishes from here until next Tuesday..."
