One of the company's three tech writers has left for other pastures.
So, after working with the other writer to put the finishing touches to our
product documentation (installation guide and help, single-sourced for nine
vendor platforms in English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish), we had
to put the finishing touches on the projects left by the departing writer.

So here's a Friday question and, two hours later, a solution that may be of
interest to some of you:

What is the secret to removing an empty folder in RoboHelp X5?

   - In Project Manager, I initially attempted to delete the folder
("Introduction"), which appears on the root, in Images, in Multimedia, in
Style Sheets, and in Baggage Files. All "delete" options are not
available. (The Introduction folder under Images contains three JPGS that
also exist on the root of Images.)
   - In Project Manager, I attempted to delete the JPGs in
Images\Introduction. No delete option is available when the JPGs are
selected. Clicking Properties for the images tells me that the images are
not used in any *topics*. (They are referenced in the *style sheet*.)
   - Read the Help. Can't follow the instructions because no "delete"
   options are available.
   - Did a Google search. Looked on P. Grainge's site for any
   suggestions. No luck.
   - Tried displaying all hidden and non-hidden files in Introduction in
Windows Explorer -- the three JPGs and Introduction.fpj -- and
deleting them from Windows Explorer (because I could not do it in Project
Manager). Then tried to delete the folder in Project Manager. But
   RoboHelp recreated the Introduction.FPJ.
   - Looked on Adobe Support site. Suggest a search for references to the
folder. Found a reference in the root.fpj. Opened in Notepad, remove
the reference, and hey presto! Introduction is gone from the project. A
colleague suggested I just remove the root.fpj, so I tried that, too,
but RoboHelp just kept recreating the Introduction.fpj.

I'm happy to have a cleaner project.

Happy weekend, one and all.

Carol
