-----Original Message----- From: Dori Green I tend to avoid such stuff, at least during working hours.
The growling and gnashing of teeth upsets my co-workers. Dori Green ----------------------------------- Well, ya see...it's all my fault. I rode the train in today. Price of gas is high enough that I'll now save money riding the train. I asked the conductor about purchasing a 10-ride ticket on the way in, but apparently I can't do that on the train -- I can only do it online or at a station with an attendant (neither station I get on/off at has an attendant). So I purchased a 1-way fare this morning, and will purchase another one tonight. To purchase by internet, I have to send in a PAPER copy of the application with a voided check to some address in the city. In 10 days or so, they'll send me a PIN number so I can purchase online, then they MAIL the tickets to me after I purchase them online, so that'll take another few days. http://metrarail.com/TBI/ap-ins.html Basically, why the heck should I bother with an internet purchase if it's going to take me two weeks to get tickets? I can drive to the closest station with an agent, it's 45 minutes there and back from my house, and that includes the time to purchase the tickets. And so, on the heels of this fiasco, I started looking online for a folding bike I can take on the train, and ran across this gem and sent it to Donna. There isn't a bus that runs from the train station close to where I work, and it's a half-hour walk to work after the 35-min train ride... Shaving a few minutes off that walk with a bike would be nice! I think I'm driving my car in tomorrow. ;-) Better yet, I'll just stay home. -Carla - CONFIDENTIAL- This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential, and may also be legally privileged.
