It's scandalous, but a LOT of people are writing for $1-$2 an hour and even
much less. Some internet marketers I know are getting batches of articles
written for $35.00 per 100. This is very typical of these freelance sites,
like GetAFreelancer, Rentacoder, Elance, and Guru.com.

Of course the quality is abysmal. But the purchasers don't care, and often
don't know the difference. Many of these writers are off shore, and are
getting enough volume of work that they can handle the low rates. They may
also have lower expenses and cost of living requirements (not wanting to
make any assumptions here.)

And if you really want to be shocked, there is "article writing software"
out there that will churn out articles for pennies, so that people who don't
know how and can't be bothered to write can fill websites full of content.

Personally, I get $1.00 a word. But increasingly I'm having to fight through
the client's perception that writing is cheap. Thanks a lot, Elance.

Subject: [TCP] question about another freelancer site

Hi everyone,

I saw an ad for another freelancer site, www.GetAFreelancer.com. Has
anyone ever heard of it? What strikes me as odd is that several jobs
I've seen talk about $1-$2/hour rates. Who would work for that? Do
they have some unusual pricing scheme that I don't understand?

Curiously yours,

Lisa Gielczyk
