Hi, Lisa and All TCP Members.

I guess Lisa isn't going to let us off the hook until we introduce
ourselves (hehehe) so here's a quick introduction to Ed:

I have been a technical writer for 16 years, starting in training course
development as a contractor for 3 years then gradually moving into my
current position as a technical writer for a company that produces
software and hardware for the concrete batching and construction
materials industry. The industry is not all that glamorous but the job
security more than makes up for it.

I am the lone writer in our business unit and write everything from
release notes to mini-user guides to HTML Help. In my daily duties, I
use FrameMaker 7.0 and WebWorks Pro, along with a little PhotoShop,
Snagit, and Visio. I am currently contacting a translator so we can
translate our documentation and software into German to start and
Russian, Portuguese, and Chinese on down the road.

To break the monotony of technical writing, I skydive in the good
weather months (I live in Ohio) and write articles about skydiving. I
started jumping a long time ago but quit for 15 years because I couldn't
afford to compete. That was a dumb move because I forgot why I started
jumping in the first place - to have fun! Well, I've been back for 9
years and I'm enjoying it more than ever. I recently participated in a
world record 113-way formation in California for skydivers 40 and over
(most of us were WELL over 40).

But enough about me...

Hi everybody,

Traffic to the TCP website and membership on the list have increased
dramatically in the last week or so. Could you let me know where you
heard
about TCP? You're welcome to post your answer to the list, or you can
write
to me offlist. If you post to the list, why don't you also let us know
what
you do in your tech comm career?

Also, I'm working on converting the site to Drupal and adding new
features,
like blog space. If anyone has worked with Drupal before and if you're
willing to advise me a bit, I would greatly appreciate it!

Warm regards,

Lisa Gielczyk
TCP Admin
