But struct timespec is sec/nanosec.  I look at nanoseconds of accuracy 
for other things today (I don't always get as close as I'd like, but 
thats another problem :)..  Odds are that we won't actually be able
to get real nanosec accuracy for a few years on most platforms, but it
seems silly to artificially limit ourselves.  As faster links 
(10GE/OC192/768) and faster computers come online we may want to be able
to differentiate packets at finer timescale resolution than usec allows 
(this becomes more possible with hardware collectors, etc...).
