November 2025
=============

The accounted activities in November stand for 164:10 hours and 62
commits (3 in tcpdump, 44 in libpcap and 15 in tcpdump-htdocs). There
are 2171 new tests in libpcap.

In libpcap the main improvements are as follows:

* "(host|net) <IPv4 address>", "(arp|rarp) host <IPv4 address>",
  "(ip|ip6) multicast", "ip broadcast" and the index operation now
  compile to fewer instructions on DLT_RAW, DLT_IPV4, DLT_IPV6,
  DLT_PFLOG and possibly other DLTs that support a restricted set of
  link-layer protocols.
* "(broadcast|multicast)", "link host <MAC-48 address>", "link proto
  <protocol>", "vlan [<ID>]", "mpls [<label>]", "llc" and
  "(inbound|outbound)" now support DLT_DSA_TAG_BRCM and DLT_DSA_TAG_DSA.
* BACnet MS/TP filtering now no longer fails to reject "link proto" and
  supports "link host <MAC-8 address>" and "link broadcast".
* ARCnet filtering no longer supports RFC 1051 system codes.
* Test tooling now supports file-based reject tests and
  optimisation-specific reject tests; most tests now run both optimised
  and unoptimised.
* Unsupported Linux DSA tag types are now easier to debug.

Other accounted activities include:

* fixing of Broadcom DSA tag printing in tcpdump,
* publishing of a few first revisions of the current BPF instruction
  set architecture page,
* upgrading of openbsd-aarch64 and openbsd-amd64 from OpenBSD 7.7 to
  OpenBSD 7.8 (among other things this has upgraded Automake from 1.16
  to 1.18 and Clang from 16.1 to 21.1), and
* progressing of the bug report and pull request queues.
