Hello
I am working on a network-monitoring tool for UNIX environment. The tool is using the libcap for the network-monitoring feature. While testing the tool at 100 BT network environment, I found out that a considerable number of packets would be dropped if the data rate increases. Therefore I have started the tcpdump application to verify that the number of packets send to the network is equal to the number recognized by the LAN device. In this case the number of packets counted by the tcpdump application also have been different to the number of packets send out to the network. And for each load it counted a different number of packets received. Is there a simple answer like that the performance of the libpcap driver does not support data rates of 100 BT Network? I would be glad if you have any suggestion to solve the performance issue of the monitoring tool. mit freundlichen Gren/best regards Guenther Breitschaft Motorola GmbH R & D System Am Borsigturm 130,13507 Berlin Tel. 0049 -30 / 6686-1333 Fax. 0049 -30 / 6686-1148 eMail [EMAIL PROTECTED] mit freundlichen Gren/best regards Guenther Breitschaft Motorola GmbH R & D System Am Borsigturm 130,13507 Berlin Tel. 0049 -30 / 6686-1333 Fax. 0049 -30 / 6686-1148 eMail [EMAIL PROTECTED] - This is the TCPDUMP workers list.
