All,

I usually like to monitor a list for awhile before I start throwing my
problems out there. That said I am having a problem using pcap on a OpenBSD
box.

I found the two tutorials on line and decided I liked the format of the
one at NAU. The problem is that it is gone. As of today there doesn't seem
to bea tutorial there anymore. I tried the other one and thought the
sniffer.c code would be usefull to solve my problem (I will come to that in
a minute) and the link to that code is broken as well

My problem is that, partially for instructional purposes and partially for
usage, I need to monitor all of the packets through an interface. I have
OpenBSD boxes running IPSEC. I am sure that pcap must be able to catch and
monitor this since I can see them in tcpdump. However the testcap1 example
that was at the now missing NAU page failed to capture anything. It comes
back saying

nick-gw# ./testcap1
Network Device: xl0
Size of the buffer=1024
20480
There was an error
Didn't grab packet
nick-gw#

Does anyone have a source for sniffer code that works that they would like
to share? I am really just looking for a snippet that will grab packets on
OpenBSD.

Thanks Nick
