Is tcpdump affected by the netfilter code in linux? In otherwords, if I have a policy of DROP on an interface, and a packet comes in and is dropped, does tcpdump see it? I need to know whether I should take the firewall code away before I start looking at packets that I am expecting to be dropped. Thank you.
