Well, that's your problem. :-)
The standard RH 7.2 kernel appears to have a bug that causes time stamps
not to have the resolution you can get from some hardware.
See Red Hat bug 61111; go to
http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/
to get to the RH bug-tracking system. The person who submitted that bug
says, in the bug:
Upgrading to the 2.4.9-31 kernel fixed the problem.
so you might try upgrading to that (which somebody at Red Hat calls "the
errata kernel").
