Ok. It seems I just trusted gcc or something else too much - it didn't scream about missing prototype.

Create a file named ".devel" in your top-level tcpdump and libpcap directories, and re-run the configure script. That causes the configure script to assume you're using GCC, and it adds some extra -W flags to increase the warning level.
