damn ! libc5 libraries are a different think from linux kernel 2.0 : that is
the magic of Linux systems ;-)

Yes, linux 2.0 is old but libc5 isn't old and it's always used with linux
2.2 kernels.

OK, I won't update software on my slackware 96 which has a 2.0 kernel, I
just keep it to make software I write compatible with such old systems, as I
try to make them K&R compatible because some free cc from commercial
companies are K&R only.

But why shouldn't I update softwares on systems that are less than 2 years
old ?

Hope libc5 will be supported back, I don't mind about linux kernel 2.0 .
