...there's definitely code in libpcap 0.6.2 and tcpdump 3.6.2 to handle
ARPHRD_ATM and the DLT_ATM_CLIP DLT_ type to which libpcap maps
ARPHRD_ATM, so, yes, it should work with ATM.
tcpdump 3.6[.x] also prints the data link type in the "unknown data link
type" in decimal, not in hex, so he's probably using a pre-3.6 version,
which doesn't have ATM support.
