Perhaps some outgoing packets aren't being damaged by the code that
passes outgoing packets to PF_PACKET "tap" sockets; tcpdump merely
interprets what's given to it by libpcap (which just gives tcpdump what
the PF_PACKET socket gives it) - if tcpdump is handed incorrect data, it
won't be able to correctly interpret it.
