The setup I am using is two dual 2.8GHz Pentiums with 1Gig of RAM in each. The two computers are connected back to back over 1 Gigabit Ethernet. Each computer has a SysKonnect SK-NET Gigabit Ethernet Adapter SK-9843 SX. Both computers are running tcpdump v3.7.2 and libpcap v0.7.2. I am seeing about 33% packet loss using a 1500 byte MTU. With an MTU of 9000, I am only seeing around 0.5% packet loss. Is there anything I can do to lower the packet loss that I am seeing with smaller MTUs?
