I will try to install the latest and greatest version. I have both libpcap headers installed, I've seen posts on the internet that this was a bug. Hopefully the latest version does not have this issue.
The machine is dedicated with one purpose , sending packets. Dual cpu quadcore, 16 GB mem. File in ramdisk and 1 Gbit interfaces.
