I was elected to the ASA's Committee on Committees and my term begins at next
month's annual meeting. (Thanks, I think, to everyone who voted for me.)

:)

My job is to bring a slate of candidates to be deliberated by the committee at
our day-long (!) meeting at the annual meeting. We make recommendations to
Council for appointments to all Award Committees and Status Committees. These
include:

Award Committees:
Distinguished Scholarship
Dissertation
Distinguished Career for Practice of SOC
Disstinguished Scholarly Publication
Distinguished Contributions to Teaching
DuBois-Johnson-Frazier
Jesse Bernard
Pubic Understanding of SOC

Status Committees:
Committee on Awards
Professional Ethics
Committee on Sections
Status of Racial & Ethnic Minorities in SOC
Status of Gay, Lesbian, Bbisexual and Transgendered Persons in SOC
Status of Women in SOC
Status of Persons w/Disabilities in SOC

If you are interested in serving on any of these committees, please email your
CV to me as soon as possible I will submit your name for nomination. I must
submit names to the ASA prior to 8/1 and they will check to make sure you are
eligible (e.g., you must be a member in good standing). That will clear the
way for putting your name into nomination at the meeting. If your CV is not
ready to send to me, at least send me an email expressing interest and let me
know when I can expect to see your CV.

Let's get more teaching sociologists represented on these committees!

Thanks!
